"Från skärm till scen – Den dansande skogen" är en interaktiv dansföreställning för barn där berättande, musik och Bharatanatyam möts. Följ Bala på en fantasifull resa från skärmens värld in i en levande, dansande skog, där publiken får uppleva rytm, rörelse och fantasi på nära håll.


**Från skärm till scen – Den dansande skogen** is an interactive Bharatanatyam dance-theatre production for children.

The story follows a young boy, Bala, who is used to experiencing forests, animals and adventures through a screen. One day, he begins to wonder what it would feel like to enter such a world himself. The screen disappears, and Bala steps into an imaginative dancing forest.

The production combines narration, Bharatanatyam, music, dramatic movement and audience interaction.

Bala encounters the proud peacock, whose movement introduces confidence, expression and stage presence. The forest then develops into a wider Indian classical dance world through choreographed musical sections, including **Tandav** and **Alarippu**.

Alarippu introduces the audience to the rhythmic and geometric qualities of Bharatanatyam through coordinated movements of the eyes, head, shoulders, arms and feet. These classical elements are integrated into the story as part of Bala's journey from watching dance to experiencing it.

The production moves between storytelling and pure dance, allowing children to experience both the narrative and abstract rhythmic dimensions of Bharatanatyam.

Audience participation is incorporated at selected moments through simple movement, gesture and rhythmic response, creating direct contact between the performers and the children without turning the performance into a lesson or workshop.

At the heart of the production is the transition from screen to stage: from passively watching a story to encountering movement, rhythm, expression and imagination through live performance.

The production presents Bharatanatyam as a living artistic language and contributes to the diversity of performing arts available to children in Gothenburg.
